Agnes of God

Summoned to a convent, Dr. Martha Livingstone, a court-appointed psychiatrist, is charged with assessing the sanity of a novice accused of murdering her newborn. Miriam Ruth, the Mother Superior, determinedly keeps young Agnes from the doctor, further arousing Livingston’s questions force all three women to re-examine the meaning of faith.

One Act Play Season – Slut & Adam and Eve

Season: 29-30 June 2018

This June, Powderkeg Players presents two one act plays for two nights only.

Patricia Cornelius’s Slut is an edgy, raw and provocative play that examines the part women play in slut-shaming. Slut follows the central character, Lolita, and a chorus of young women who watch her rise and final devastating fall. Directed by the award winning Natasha Boyd, Slut will tour Victoria as part of the One Act Play Festival circuit.

Second feature is the premier of Adam & Eve, written and directed by longtime Powderkeg friend Donna Prince. Adam & Eve explores the human condition of relevance in the context of an uncertain future.

A Conversation

Season: 5-20 October 2018

Directed by: Lee Cook

A Conversation – the second play in Williamson’s Jack Manning trilogy – explores the use of community conferencing, a process where an offender and his victim discuss the perpetrator’s actions and attempt to find a resolution.

Scott is imprisoned for the rape and murder of a young woman and his struggling single mother Coral arranges a meeting with the victim’s upper-class parents and the prison psychologist who counselled her son. Coral asks Jack Manning to mediate but things gets off to a bumpy start when it’s revealed she may have an ulterior motive.

Powderkeg Youth Theatre Production

Season: 17-25 November 2018

Each year, the Powderkeg Players put on a youth production as a way of continuing our tradition and sharing our passion for theatre with the next generation.

This is an all ages event where every child is given the opportunity to grace the stage in whatever capacity they are capable.
